This is this 2nd National Issue Deputy U.S. Marshal badge, also known as the Patty Hearst Badge. The badge measures approximately 2 7/8 inches tall by 1 15/16 inches wide. The shield is hallmarked Blackington, issued from the USMS headquarters, has its original belt/wallet clip, and is controlled numbered.
The badges were issued in only silver color being nickel plated, and has four color (red, white, light blue, and dark blue) hard fired black enamel lettering.
This shield was known to be issued and used 1970-1980.
