Badges of the police of "New York" (It concerns here faithful museum simulations)

In 1845 the New York police was reorganised and from three different unities a uniform system was formed.

This new unity got the first police badge "New York". It concerned a copper, octagonal star with the town seal in the centre.(1)

On the 15th of April, 1857 became the "Metropolitan policy" the police responsible for New York. At that time a new badge was also created. (2)

The third badge was introduced in 1870 in New York when the name of the police changed again in "Municipal police". Everywhere on account of her appearance the badges were known as "Acorn". (3)

Already in 1872 a new badge was introduced. Besides, it concerned again an easy badge in shield form. There was of white metal and carried the town seal and the number of the policeman. This badge was carried from 1872 to 1889.(4)

Another, almost angular badge was from 1889 to 1898 in use. With this badge the town seal as well as the label "Police Department city of New York" was on top. The number of the official was given below. (5)

With the next badge, which appeared in 1898 one returned again to the traditional shield form. In the middle the big town seal with the label "City of New York" below was the number.(6)

In 1902 a badge which resembled the previous one was given once more. However, it owned as opposed to this low-cut figures.(7)
