I found online a newspaper indicating McReynolds making an arrest as a Deputy Sheriff in 1978, so badge would date to this era.

Marked 24KT KARATCLAD HGE. I believe this is a Blackinton mark for Heavy Gold Plating.

This is an original used badge, it has some plating worn off by "COUNTY", and a lot of the Gold Plate on the rear is cracking and is ready to flake off.
