Description

Antique Lieutenant-American Protective League, Auxiliary to U.S. Dept of Justice

Silver Colored Shield, Number I - 1362.

Note: The APL was never an official part of the U.S. Government and was disbanded in 1919. The founder, A. M. Briggs, proposed the APL as a new volunteer auxiliary of the USDOJ. The then acting Attorney General gave permission for the group to form but they were technically a private organization with no official law enforcement powers.
