This beautiful badge was used by the Peruvian Republican Guard, and they were responsible for guarding government buildings, prisons, border patrolling and to help provide general order within the country.  The agency was abolished in 1988 and was formed into the current National Police of Peru.

This badge was made by the famous N.S. Meyer Company, a wholesale supplier of military and police insignia around the world.  It is still on the maker's card and is in unused condition.  Expect a bit of tarnish on the brass backing plate.  The center seal unscrews for easy cleaning.
